PHILIP STEJSKAL ARCHITECTURE is a registered practice under the Architect's Act of Western Australia, and conducts its business with accountability to the Architects Board of WA, administrators of this Act.
We are a small yet versatile team with a studio on the edge of Fremantle. Our portfolio consists largely of residential work, with previous project experience spanning commercial and institutional sectors across the past two decades. Our work has gained formal recognition at both local and national levels, with a number of our projects having received awards and commendations for their specific and wider contributions. We operate according to a particular set of values, which are pursued in our projects regardless of value or constraint. DIGNITY: if a space does not uplift the human spirit, it has failed in a fundamental way. CLEVER FRUGALITY: we work strategically to channel constrained budgets to areas of most tangible benefit, conserving carefully in others. ENDURING FLEXIBILITY: a space that is flexible, remains relevant for longer. FAMILIARITY: a well-designed space should fit its purpose and situation so well as to seem instantly familiar. SUSTAINABILITY: we believe sustainability is a question of good stewardship; of our resources, of our relationships, and of our well being. |

OUR OFFICE:
Our office is located within Nyisztor Studio, a contemporary artist-run gallery on the corner of Canning Highway and Stock Road in Palmyra. The building -- previously the City of Melville Library -- is built according to mid-century modernist principles, offering well-lit and well-ventilated spaces within a rational footprint. A Wandoo sprung floor is the centrepiece of a space that is otherwise in white, with exception of the view through a south-facing wall of glass. We are situated within an annex to this building.
Ron Nyisztor is the curator and artist responsible for the gallery. He is a good friend and we enjoy the interdisciplinary dialogue that intersperses our working day :)
