PALMYRA
PALMYRA
2012 - 2013 (SERVICE COMPLETED)
Project Team: Philip Stejskal, Yang Yang Lee
Model Photography: Bo Wong
Builder: Owner-builder
A project in Palmyra. An existing house to which are added two new bedrooms, a bathroom, a covered external terrace and a replacement tandem garage with store. The configuration of these components creates a north-facing external courtyard, bounded to the east by a new wall screening a utility area. In section, the idea is straight-forward: preserve direct north light to existing living area in winter and re-establish views of the sky. The new terrace roof pitches steeply toward the north, with two trellis structures designed to intercept the summer sun. The bedroom wing opens toward the courtyard and new terrace. The client will owner-build the terrace and garage as part of Stage I.
